Default M151 A2's for sale in Australia- advice sought

Evening all,

My father in law spotted these M151 A2s for sale at Warwicks in Victoria, Australia:

http://www.warwicks.com.au/sales/g_pmutt/pmutt.htm

http://www.warwicks.com.au/sales/g_m...1/m151a2_1.htm

I've been to Melburne plenty of times but the company is a new one to me.

Has anyone see these M151s and can give us a heads up on condition etc?

How does the price compare with what else is available in Australia.

The father in law is quite keen to pop over from NZ and have a look so wanted to get a bit of an idea for him first if possible.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Hanno,

Thanks for that. Interesting. Three for the price of two from there can't be bad.

The photos of at least one of them at Warwicks show them in better nick than the ones shown on the Milweb ad. It would be nice to have a better idea of condition before I send the father in law across the ditch.

Have any of the aussies on the forum seen the vehicles at Warwicks?

Cheers.

Darryl,

Warricks have been around for generations. I have known Mike for at least 25 years. He has had a few unusual vehicles in this time including a Humber Pig and a Kubelwagon.

Warricks are the main armourers to most of the movie and TV scene here in Victoria. They have an amazing collection of armaments from colonial days up to Afghanistan.

Hope this helps.

regards Rick.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for that. I hadn't heard of them before; wish I had, I would have taken a look in March when I was over for Corowa.

Is Mike a good one to talk to there about them?

Thanks.

The captions suggest parts are easily available from the US. As many Canadians have learned, ITARS will keep a lot of US military parts and components on the south side of the border. There was a thread about a big scrap yard in Upstate New York which pulled a large quantity of M151A2 parts and wrecks because of government questions if these had the correct level of demilitarization.

The price probably has a fair chunk of transportation added in. Just to move my M151A2 three-days across Canada, cost $1700 to ride in an enclosed trailer towed by a pickup. If a buyer Down Under was to find an equally equipped vehicle in similar condition, he would pay much more than that IMHO.

To get an idea of the construction and inspection/rebuilding of an M151A2, search for threads by Scott Bentley.

Darryl,

Mike is the boss, I can't think of his son's name unfortunately. Tell Mike I said to speak to him and say hello from me.

Regards Rick

Thanks Terry. I have passed that on. Scott's restoration is one hell of an example.

Thanks also Rick. I passed on your regards.

The father in law is going to take a trip next week to check them out.

Cheers for the assistance.
