Default Anyone using MobileMe for image hosting?

This will probably mean nothing to those of you in the world of Windows, but it will have an effect nonetheless on some images posted on this forum when the service is retired June 30 2012.

It's an Apple image hosting service which I and I think others have used to post images on this forum. From what I read these will disappear from the above date. You can of course make sure they are saved to your hard drive, and in the case of iPhoto users most of your images will still be on your computer, but the links will disappear and there's not a lot you can do about it other than reposting them somewhere else.

I've started using Flikr which I like and it works well. It even has it's own CMP community of sorts.

So for those of you using MobileMe you will probably have received notification this is happening, for others this will explain why a lot of images will disappear from this forum.

If there's something you'd particularly like to see again after June 30, then let me know and I will repost. I don't fancy finding all my posts and changing image links!

Been there, done that for you ..... ;-)

Seriously, I urge MLU users to attach pictures to their postings, rather than using an external hosting site. We have seen many of those being taken offline, in other cases people moved their own website (Keith, Dirk) or they disappeared when passing away (David). Many postings are becoming worthless when the associated pictures disappear, so please use the functionality of this forum so we can assure preservation of your quality information shared here.

Thanks,
Hanno
