For people using the Showgrounds and for all participants on the Saturday the following guidelines have been set by the Corowa Racecourse and Showground Trust:
1. Camp only in the designated areas.
2. Leave plenty of space around the unloading ramp(s) and do not encroach on the roadways.
3. Strictly no dogs are allowed on the grounds -- no exceptions.
4. The race track is out of bounds to all.
5. Keep the marked display area clear until its use on Saturday morning.
6. Only establish swap stalls where directed.
7. Keep noise and machinery movement down to a minimum when trainers are exercising horses.
8. Exercise care when driving all vehicles so there is no damage to the grounds.
9. The only access to the Racetrack toilets is to be on foot through the pedestrian gate in the fence.
10. In case of the need to evacuate the site, exit through the main gates to a safe location in the adjacent streets.
11. There are to be no campfires on the grounds.
12. For all vehicles on Saturday once your vehicle is placed in the display area they cannot be moved until 11.30am, and will then need an escort marshal to assist you out of the shared traffic zone.
13. Please do not litter the area, and either take your rubbish with you or place it in a bin provided before you leave.

We will be fortunate enought to Have Mark Fletcher otherwise known as Fletch from the Channel 44 program 'Classic Restos' with us for a couple of days. He will arrive on Wednesday and be with us through to Friday morning. If you think you have an interesting restoration story get in touch with me and I will organise for Fletch to interview you.

Default Corowa Update

A number of military vehicles have arrived in Corowa over the weekend. Ian Evans from Cooma arrived in town yesterday after a 6 hour journey (see the attached photos).
The weather is in the low to mid 30s with very little chance of rain.

Default That picture deserves a prize

Hi Jan

That is a prize winning picture, deserves to be published in all the Military Magazines as something for all collectors to aspire too. If you don't mind I'd like to use you pictures in our local clubs Newsletter for April issue.

Do you happen to know the overall height was?

I've already share your pictures with one of our local collectors who regularly hauls his APCs to shows he is green with envy.

He has the military flat bed for his tractor but the last time he used it he was hauling the two APCs and an M151 out to a show in the mid west and got pulled over into a weight station and was over weight by the weight of M151. Fine unload the M151 back to the scales, no too much weight on the rear axles, fine move one of the APCs forward still not right move the other one forward. Of course each time they had rechain everything. Last trip to the scale everything OK and it starts to rain no top on the M151, so the driver gets all of the rain gear on and they are off to drive 600 more miles home. That's why he replace the military trailer with the nice shinny aluminum one in the picture.

Cheers Phil

Default Loading gun tractor

This was the scene in Eltham this afternoon as Euan loaded the No9 CGT and Wiles Jr cooker. He has already unloaded and is now on his way back to collect 25 pdrs and limbers.

Hi Phil,
I will have to find out from Ian how high his load was. You are more than welcome to use the photos or any others that I might post.

Default Getting into it

Yesterday arrived after lunch, got into shooting and did an interview with Bob Schutt who brought this ultra-rare armoured version of the F15 built for the US forces in Australia known as the SC1.
He was kind enough to let me drive it too.

Another S.E.G.

Thanks Euan for the pic.

Back home again. I haven't downloded the camera yet. I enjoyed my time there meeting people again. I just finished watching the 6x6 DVD and enjoyed every second. Have a great day tomorrow.

Keith...
Did any one take a shot at you..to see if the armour was real or not...???
Could have been a lot more interesting to run the gauntlet of Bren and Sten gun fire from a bunch of your liquored up mates..
Sure would have pissed the guy off to scratch up his nice "Down Town " paint job..
That would be the last time he offered you a test drive...
You look pretty spiffy in the drivers seat anyway...
Good job..
Alex

Is this you screaming in this video..??

Taken 35 years, but finally got to have a ride in a Ferret, even raced it around a paddock with the Humber. Then a couple of swims in a Stalwart, which I thought I would never do. What a blast.

Default Type

I interviewed the owner who is a woodworker.

He was aiming (using photos) at making an Indian pattern gun tractor using a C15A as a basis.

The vehicle is powered by a Ford Falcon motor and F250 (I think it was) gearbox. It has a LPG tank under the crew seat.

Oops, a Ford engine in a Chev truck . . . . that will not get the nod from the bowtie guys

Graham Arkle from Victoria drove his Stalwart to Corowa again and this year decided to put it in the lagoon. He offered people rides. This is the first time a Stalwart has gone into the water. A number of GPA's also went into the river. We were fortunate that the water level was up this year.

Default A few more

Weather was perfect, warm days, cool nights and hardly any mozzies. Made sleeping in the swag on the back of the truck very pleasant.

Had a great time catching up with old faces, meeting new ones and getting to know some people a bit better. Could have spent a month down there.
