Default RIP Dell Blakney (FMVA Kingston)

D.D. (Dell) Blakney CD1
February 26th, 1942 - February 24th, 2016

Delbert Blakney died peacefully on February 24th, 2016. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline Blakney of 52 years and his in-laws Vera and John Presley. Delbert was an extremely loving and proud father of his five children: Jackie, Brenda, Wanda, Delbert (Sarah), Paul and grandchildren Christopher, David, Leah, Taylor, Kaitlyn, and Madeline.

He is a proud former member of the Canadian Forces, Peacekeeper, with 27 years of service in 2 PPCLI, RC Signals, Canadian Provost Corp and Military Police.

He was a well respected employee of the Provincial Correctional Services, with 20 years of dedicated service at the Quinte Detention Centre.

Delbert was a supportive friend to all and will be missed dearly by all those he touched. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. A special thank you to the Kingston General Hospital for their loving care and support.

Family and friends are invited on Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. to the Emmanuel United Church in Odessa (63 Factory Street). The service will be officiated by good friend and Rev. Steve Ambury. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 6th (1-3pm) at Fort Henry Great Hall (1 Fort Henry Drive, Kingston, Ontario; top of Fort Henry Hill).

Dell was an advocate of the Canadian Diabetes Association. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the CDA in his honour.
