Default CF Arctic Tobaggans price?

Just wondering if anyone knows what a fair price would be for CF toboggans? These are magnesium with a tow bar to push them.

Chris, the "tow bar" for the ten man tent group arctic toboggan is at the rear and is used to push and steer the toboggan.

Default Toboggans

What is the NATO stock number? There will be a replacement price on the CF Supply Catalogue.

I can't see many people willingly buying one and keeping it stock. The tiller bar is used by one man to keep it upright as the other sled dogs mush forwards. As is, they are at least a three man item.

I don't know how stable one would be behind a snow machine. The skids are narrow and I expect that unless a tow-bar was designed to keep it upright, the thing would want to tip over often.

Edited - I found what could be a description, and an eye-watering price of $19,000 each.

I have had several and regretted selling each one but they occupy a lot of real estate. The covers can mould if not properly aired. I have always manged to get around $200 for them but have never had one in winter to sell always sold them in the summer.

There are 2 sizes of toboggan that I recall: the older 100 pound toboggan and the larger 200 pound toboggan. I have always seen the larger one at the price mentioned by Robin: $200.

I have a few of the smaller ones out in the shed. They were handy for dragging vehicle batteries forward to the M109s on the gun line. Not sure why I still hold on to them, other than one or two have the C/l\ on them.

Here are a couple pics lifted off of Kijiji of said toboggans.
One of them appears to have been modified with an added tow bar for a snowmobile .

There was a modification to install a towbar for pulling behind the Alpines. But later the DND had proper oversnow trailers made up that had a lot more capacity.

Rob, can you share that modification with me or all of us? I made two a few years ago and they were a hit with the unit for extracting casualties, would be interested to see what was done before.

Well the vendor has them overpriced and won't budge so no tobagganing for me.
Not that I really needed a sled dog team to pull them anyhow...

I see his price is $250...that isn't terribly out of line.

I recall reading in one or two safety digests where troops would actually have a little fun using them recreation-ally (down hill) with some bad results. I may have partaken in such action a time or too, although generally you are hard pressed to find a hill in shilo worthy of pointing a toboggan down.

I can also add that the nylon runners make good jeep window installation tools when cut down and one end given a round point.

Yeah $250 is where he is at, I offered on the pair at a slightly lesser price and received a solid "no thanks"...
Don't think there is a long line up of buyers looking for same here in North Bay but to each his own
