Default T16 driver side view mirror question

Hello all;

So far my forum searching has failed me, I'm probably doing it wrong, so sorry if this has been answered before.
Here's the basic question. I'd like to put a side view mirror on my T16. Given that they were made here in the U.S. by Ford, would a standard Ford GPW bracket and mirror be appropriate? I might be splitting hairs but it would be nice to get it right for the 27 people in the world who might know what they're looking at.

Thanks for your thoughts,

Chris

I can check the parts list when I get home but one thing I do know is that the 'genuine NOS GPW canvas mirror covers' you occasionally see for sale have G166 part numbers....

Default T16 Mirror

We have one installed on our T-16 and it works great.

Whether it is Period Correct or not, it adds a measure of safety to your drive.

It should have one, the original arm is about half the length of the one in that picture but its mounting position is correct.
It looks much the same as a Jeep mirror and arm.

The SNL G-166 lists the 'mirror - rear view - assembly' and cover under Group 2202 as:
G166-02-92252 . . . C124163

The cover is listed as:
G166-6241425 . . . B241425

The illustrations at 'A' and 'C' show the single mirror on the adjustable arm, appearing similar to the arm that exists on the Shilo museum T16 as posted earlier by Rob L.

See portions of that part here:

and here:

In addition to the TM and SNL publications, plus images in Nigel Watson's Universal Carriers Volume II, there are three (3) less detailed factory images on the CD from Clive's Service Publications factory photos.

Hi there,

I've been intently reading everyone's thoughts above. Thanks for your input. Taking everything into consideration, I'm going to get a standard GPW / MB side mirror assembly and use that.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas,

Chris

Same mirror as the jeeps with acorn nuts holding the short pattern adjustable arm.
