Default car show

A local swap meet today

Spotted this rare 1939 Chevy ute with original GMH body . A barn find from Northern Vic. , amazing , it was taken off the road in 1952 (the 1952 rego label is still on it) . I have two 1940 models - wrecks , many of these were used by the AIF of course . At least now I can measure this one and make a body up The Furphy tank is on a original chassis .

The De Soto is a ex Sth African embassy car . The owner had a nasty fright on his way to the event , a wheel came loose and almost came off . He found the nuts inside the hub cap .

Three ex-army 110 Land Rovers on display ..boring

People seem to like old caravans , lots of these on display .

Norm beechey was the original Stormin' Norman! Well before General Norman Schwarzkopf, and just as fearce.
He was one of my first TV heroes. Him, and The Thunderbirds team. My brother must have thought so too, because he came home one day with his new Monaro, V8. Well, it was new for him, anyway.

I once had an FJ sedan, like the one you photographed. It looked fantastic. Always loved the lines of the FX & FJ Holdens.
Mine had a 138 grey motor, 'stock' except for some head work, SUs, bit of a rebore, extractors, and supposedly ported. Maybe jot so stock, come to think of it. The previous owner did all that work, then decided to keep the original '3 on the tree' box. Why would you do that??? Body roll in that car was horrendous, and it handled like a cow, but I loved that old thing. Only ever applied armourall to the bench seat ONCE. It was the catalyst to me fitting seat belts though!

Default Peter M

Another racing driver name I recall is Peter Manton, he mostly drove a Mini Cooper I think. He died too young .

Those Standard Triumph's on display look nice .

The spaceship caravan is very odd .
