Default Are they still made in Australia

Hi Mike

Great old video of production methods, can tell the ladies on the line knew they were going to be filmed that day.

Now for the big question is Sidchrome Company still in business and are the tools still manufactured in Australia?

Can any body ID the engines being worked on?

Cheers Phil

one of the engines was what is known as the 'Red 6'. Made by GM Holden here in Oz for the Holden motor cars of the era. Probably the 161ci but am not quite sure now.

Phil Yes Cliff is spot on

The Siddons family owned the Sidchrome business , they sold out some time . The history might be on WIKI .

Here we go http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/siddons-royston-11689

The motor would be a RED motor , these came out in the EH Holden 1964 and went up to the early Commodores . I think by the early 1980's they had finished with the Red ? The Red motor began as a 149 and 179 ci I think, then the 161 and 186 came out in 1966 ? The 202 then appeared . They were a pokey motor and put out decent hp figures - hydraulic valve lifters too. The total production would have been over a million I would think .

some u tube stuff

BTW the motor used before the Red was the Grey , it was much like the chevy 216 but smaller at 138ci
