Default Passing of a Generation- Australian War Bride

The Obituary below caught my eye for a number of reasons, and I thought it deserved being pass along. Her Australian heritage and war time service was clearly of importance to her and her family.

What also caught my eye was that she attended a community college that I worked at one time and then she went on to attend a prestigious women’s college and graduate in her late 60s.

Sounds like and interesting person, wish I had known her.

Default Obits and Casualty Lists

Thanks Phil for the posting. It is truely sad to see all the obits of a fading generation. As a young collector (age 13) I was constantly reading to obits and when a vet was found I read it to my parents. Back them most of them were ww1 vets. I still read every obit and I still remember my mom saying that my reading of them reminded her of reading the casualty lists during the war. I still look at them as casualty lists since then....

Lest we forget...
