Default Diesel Repower

Just for giggles and laughs .. and in view of way rising fuel prices, anyone with opinions about diesel repower?

With a view to keeping the truck as original as possible:

Is there an engine besides the MARS supplied Hercules that mates or matches more easily than other engines to the existing transmission?

I've seen the MSeries Repower site which will do the work at their shop using a Cummins. There is a rumour that an M152 from Ontario went down for this conversion. It is too far away from my little Island to consider but I'm sure they have a solid product. Anyone know the truck?

Default Diesel engines...

...are pretty pricey even used. You can buy a lot of gas for 6000k , especially if you only put on a couple of hundred milres per year. I quote 6000k as I see used Dodge Cummins 6L 6 cylinders going for that price. Not to mention associated shipping and installation charges.

Default Transplant

I,m in the process of fitting a Nissan TD42 diesel engine gearbox and transfer case to what will become my daily driver C60S.
So far it looks pretty good no major body mods required.
These motors are plentiful here and a turbo charged intercooled version is available too if you think the diffs could handle the torque.
