How come you folk always call those hills in the background mountains?

"A mountain is a landform that extends above the surrounding terrain in a limited area. A mountain is generally much higher and steeper than a hill, but there is considerable overlap, and usage often depends on local custom. Some authorities define a mountain as a peak with a topographic prominence over an arbitrary value: for example, the Encyclopędia Britannica requires a prominence of 2,000 feet (610 m). "

Apparently. . . . . .

Ahem! Mt. Robson, just north of Ma's current location: 3,954 metres. Canada rules!

Well, it was a good guess. LOL! I figured Giles was either a pet or a kid.

Cliff, since we're on the subject, can anyone name the tallest mountain on the planet?

I knew you'd get it R. I very carefully chose the word "tallest" instead of "highest"

Well done!

Default Memorial Wall

Here is a photo of the War Memorial Wall Mural here ... the mural was painted by a local artist Joseph Cross in 1999 and was "DEDICATED in 2000" and it honours those from this community area "VALOUR REMEMBERED" who served in all the wars from the Boer to fairly present-day Peacekeeping missions. On the back of the mural is all the names. Behind the wall (on the names side) is a cenotaph as well.

I'm eating it right now.

There are several varieties - the untoasted is the best by far.

We'll serve you some when you visit.

Not the sort that get frozen off brass monkeys in places like Canada!

Gourmet nut = any nut other than a peanut.

Ah, I see.

Now, can you give me the origin of "Brass monkeys" meaning very cold?

Englishmen refrain from tippy-tappy electronic signals if you would whilst our antipodean chums have a go; think of "England expects. . . . . . ." Keefy.

Check out e-pay for MacKenzie kilts. My Mark II bought a Black Watch kilt for CDN$100.00 in time for his high school graduation. This is for a light weight dress kilt, not the freaking 20 pound enough-material-to-sheet-a-ship, battle kilt.

Someone in here emailed me to ask what "DP" means ... "displaced person" ... in the context I used it was about "displaced from my natural Aussie environment perhaps? ) but read on for the usual understanding of the term "DP" ...
