Kevin,

I'd just let you know that there are two (!) Centaurs turrets at the War Museum of Athens in static desplay ..

Well... It won't be a bad idea to offer them an exchange or a swap with something else... but I don't have anything in mind ...

Default Centaur Turret.

Hi, Is that not the same gun turret taken from another angle?. Rick, I think that Cavalier has different running gear to a Centaur, hubs, swing arms etc so would yield very little useful parts, I think it needs to go to Bovington for restoration with the turret staying with it as I understand they have another Cavalier there. At the moment I think it's the 'missing link' in there British Cruiser tank restored collection.

Hi, The Centaur strip continues, nearly every side armour bolt needed a nut welded to it to allow it to be removed. The shrapnel damaged division plate has been removed for a pattern for a new lazer cut one.

Hope to have all the springs and shocks off by the end of next week, some repair work then to take place on the hull before blasting and priming.

i have a boxed nos meteor engine from a guy in denmark that i was going to buy if i couldn't get a liberty for the centaur, obviously i have no need for it now so it's yours if you want it. the guy was asking £2600 which is a good price, let me know soonest so i can let him know either way. cheers

keep up the good work

hello guys,

I'm happy to see that another British WW2 tank gets some TLC, and hopefully we will see it moving around in some years..

Hi, Here is a couple of pics taken this week following grit blasting the hull and painting, hope to get it to mine this week, lots still to do to the hull, all the swing arms have got to come off aswell as the final drive backing plates.

If anyone who I have not already spoken to has any Cromwell or Centaur parts that could help towards this project please p.m. me.

Tremendous progress Kevin, do you have much range damage to attend to? My Loyd has been nothing but heart ache, with even the most complete part being subtly distorted and requiring remedial work. There was a complete liberty V12 available from Dave Arnold, but it may have been sold when he shifted the Cavalier.

Hi Alister, This was mostly splashed with artillary shrapnel, no penetrations to the hull, it had took a close round next to it which bent a side armour plate, (see first pic when still on the range), Also the front drivers foot plate looks like it has been fired at constantly with a heavy machine gun which has pushed it in, this will need replacing in the long run. I have seen that liberty but its a little out of my price range. and it would need a rebuild.

been working on the swing arm 'bump' stops and finished refurbishing them all today with NOS rubbers, will post some pics.

Its already nicely wrapped and nearly Christmas, Do you think it would help with domestic harmony, if he put a big ribbon on it?

Rick, She was sent shopping in Norwich with some cash on the day of the arrival, she figured something was up, I did talk her round and even said it would make a great outside 'Jacuzzi' which thinking about it is not actually a bad idea!!

She did take this picture a week earlier while standing on a bollard so this must prove she has a slight interest ????.

Default Canadian Centaur

A Canadian tank Centaur equipped with Deep Wading Trunks (hoods crossing) runs on the beach Courseulles sur Mer (JUNO BEACH). It carries a sled trailer called Porpoise Ammunition Sledge. This sled was either dragged by tanks: Sherman, Churchill, Cromwell or Centaur. It was widely used during landing operations.

Gents, Check out that Histomil website, thousands of hi resolution photo's, Adrian, Yes royal Marine but clearly marked 'Canadian' at the front.

Peter, I need to crack on with it after the weather clears, Your website milmarket has certainly put me in touch with useful spares for my projects, I would recommend people give it a look.

Where? All I can see written on the front is it's T number. You can't rely on captions....

Default The red white red recognition marks

Guys, I was always under the inpression the 'red white red' recognition marks were to signify Canadian?, or were they applied to British vehicles too?, or maybe that is not 'red white red' in this particulat Centaur picture?.......... I am no expert.

No, that's the British early AFV recognition mark. My Sherman had it too.

Easo,

Yes, but they did manage to totaly destroy the engine bay and land one right in the middle of the top of the turret that was on it when I dragged it off the range! That turret is being used in another restoration leaving Clive with a rather big hole.... ARV I wonder?

I though that having Dingo's and Ferrets flying was something but this is amazing. Wondering only how the landing would be if you are inside.
