Hi Rod
Is this query referring to the 15 cwt. Aust. Sigs Van ? See this: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...towage+diagram The Sigs van stowage diagram indicates a B&S ( Briggs & Stratton ?) 300 Watt petrol generator set was carried and it is located in the rear LH floor area, #7 on the diagram. Andrew T. found a reference to a PTO generator for the Aust.15 cwt Sigs van but that was probably a trial or a prototype setup. Maybe somebody knows more ?

Mike.
I think there was also a PTO driven, belt fed radio generator setup for the wartime MB/GPW. It mounted on the floor between the front seats with a protective cover over the generator. I saw a Canadian Contract MB here in Winnipeg back in the 70’s with one installed. Princess Auto also used to sell the war surplus NOS kits for a while. Maybe this setup was used with MBs/GPWs in Australia as well. David |

That appears to be a Delco Remy Generator as found in Chevy inline 6’s used by CMP trucks. Without confirming in the parts manual I believe there was three main different versions. The differences being the first version used bushings at both ends, second used a bearing and a bushing at the opposite end and the last used bearings at both ends. The end plates were machined to take an air filter. It was unique to Canadian vehicles in the delco remy world of generators.
Is the part number readable on the tag?

I agree with the others. Rod's pic: Looks like a standard Chev CMP 6V gene.
