Anyone know the history of this..?
Outside a wrecking yard north and west of Whitby. Driven by it a hundred times on the way to Ontario cottage country. Never paid much attention… With permission of the owner…..finally stopped and took a few snaps.. Not for sale he said….was our yard wrecker for many years… Now an advertising sign. He admitted it needed a bit of TLC.. And just a few weeks later it was repainted.. Seems to be pretty original…and pretty early .. May I ask…...What are we looking at…?? |

I've passed by that truck a number of times as well. I really needs a new owner that will love it.
It's a 1941 Chev 12 cab 15cwt 4x4, or C-15A. The cab and interior looks in great original shape. It's missing the cargo box (most likely a 2B1 folding side type) and the tool box that goes between the cargo box and cab. The round front bumper is the most unoriginal cab part so it needs a nice 6" channel one with a pair of towing shackles. Did you ask the owner if there's anything else lurking in the yard behind the fence? |

Bruce..
Thanks for that back history. It really is early CMP. To be fair.. the present owner did repaint it. He knows what he has ..just not willing to part with it quite yet.. |

Close-up of headlight….and air intake..
Easy to see how the wood frame and the sheet metal "roof" are slowly parting company.. Nice to see the original hitch is still in place.. |

Dennis and Bruce,
I believe it was a water truck - the rear fenders being the major clue. Brian

Brian,
Interesting about it possibly being a water wagon….from the fenders. Can you tell me more about that. I think they had beefed-up rear springs …and maybe heavier steering..? |
