We have discussed this picture on the forum before....when I thought the truck on the right might be an 8cwt, but it wasn't.....just a 15CWT. But what about the van on the left? Could this be one of the early Ford Heavy Utilities???
The picture is taken in Port-en-Bessin. IWM A 24689 source:https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/i...ject/205156536 Alex

Dutch example
Here’s one in post war Holland, towing a huge horse box trailer! I wonder how long it lasted before it got in trouble.
Louis van Telgen found this picture in the Dutch National Archives

It is a quote from the guy who posted the picture, I didn’t think about it. But on checking your reply, I found that the US Army Air Corps became the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) on 20 June 1941. The picture was most likely taken after that date.

USAAF from 20 June 1941, although "Army Air Corps" was seen unofficially for some time after that.

No, Hanno was right: that film is a beauty and all about B26s. I just sent the link to my friend at NASM, as they are conserving 'Flak Bait' at the moment: the team had not see it, so are most appreciative of the link.
Well spotted Mike Kelly, thanks for posting! Mike |

Flak Bait
It certainly has fantastic provenance. The forward fuselage was on display for many years at NASM on the Mall. Image 13 of 16 in the link posted by Hanno shows the result: along the rear edge (the right side of the image) can be seen the irregular shaped area of raw Aluminium, the result of the removal of the original paintwork by the many thousands of visitors who grasped that edge as they looked into the rear area. I suppose in those days Museums were not quite as attentive to such things - could have been an easy fix with a sheet of perspex to cover the edge.
Been following the restoration/conservation, and it certainly is meticulous. Looking forward to seeing it completed. Mike |

Interestingly the front has not been painted in b&w checkers pattern. “Chevrolet (sic) F8 fitted out as a mobile air traffic control unit at Duxford (P-47 of the 83rd Fighter Squadron, 78th Fighter Group)”
