My Dear Master Surviving : Salesman Bob,

You are hereby cordially invited to dine, gratis, at MA YAPPY KARTMANN'S DINER whenever transportation can be arranged :dh: I shall plan the menu as I go ... pot-luck may be in order ... perhaps our EMMA would enjoy helping with the cooking? Maybe MAX can send that he surely looked like he ran down in YOTC? Lambchops smothered in Vegemite and Tim Tams on Anzac Bikkies for desert?

Hmmm ...

A couple denotes two whereas you quoted three examples. Your quotations of the incorrectly spelt words also lacked opening and closing parenthesis plus a quotation should also be presented in italic script.

At the outset you should have explained whether your usage of the word "meant" was in relation to the meaning of the word or its spelling. We all knew what we meant to say but we probably did not mean to incorrectly spell the words. Perhaps Sunray could incorporate a Spell Checker in the Tool Bar.

When listing with the use of commas the last comma is not required as the word "and" completes the list.

I detest words such as "no" or "got". Perhaps you could have said "a message deficient in punctuation"

A double space is required between a full stop and the beginning of a new sentence.

Would it not be more gramatically correct to say "The purpose of punctuation is...".

It is not required to state a degree on an emotion. You are either annoyed or not annoyed.

Enough of this for now, but perhaps a parting shot. I always believed the christian name John was spelt as I have just written. What is the derivative of "Jon"?

Bob
Well!!! Talk about being hoist by one's own petard!!!

OK, Salesman Bob...you got me good (Jon is a teen age affectation of the spelling of my proper Christian name).

And to the others...

Clive: I think I'll run along and run on a sentence or two...

Cliff: Fair dinkum, mate...

Glowworm: Sisyphean task indeed...

Chris: You can piss off too, (We're still friends, though, right?) See you in Acton next month.

Mark: I say old boy, I had a similar problem with a recent transmission from Sunray. Totally garbled. Did you say something about putting the blocks to someone?

Great fun, this. Don't you all agree?

Bob, you're a suck! If you think sweet-talking Emma works, think again.

I can stick up for myself (as long as I have Max to protect me).

Not having a Bartlett's Familiar Quotations close to hand, IIRC the original Shakespearean quote was as I wrote.

Good one, Chris.

I won't go into the details about that transaction...except to say that Sunray, who witnessed it, said it was brutal.

Well, not as Bill Shakespeare would have it.

"For 'tis the sport to have the enginer / Hoist with his owne petar" -- Shakespeare, Hamlet III iv. "Hoist" was in Shakespeare's time the past participles of a verb "to hoise", which meant what "to hoist" does now: to lift.

Hamlet: There's letters seal'd; and my two schoolfellows,
Whom I will trust as I will adders fang'd,
They bear the mandate; they must sweep my way
And marshal me to knavery. Let it work;
For 'tis the sport to have the enginer
Hoist with his own petar; and 't shall go hard
But I will delve one yard below their mines
And blow them at the moon. O, 'tis most sweet
When in one line two crafts directly meet.
This man shall set me packing.
I'll lug the guts into the neighbour room.-
Mother, good night.- Indeed, this counsellor
Is now most still, most secret, and most grave,
Who was in life a foolish peating knave.
Come, sir, to draw toward an end with you.
Good night, mother.

Exit the Queen. Exit Hamlet tugging out Polonius.

What we can do is invite you all to our great land of OZ, the land of plenty(blitz's). Once you all arrive we could organise an Aussie BBQ cocking up a nice piece of jumbuck, that I could catch down by the billabong, whilst I wait for the billy to boil under the shade of a colibah tree..

Job list

Salesman Bob in charge of international guests

Euan in charge of the esky

Emma in charge of cooking

Uncle Keefy in charge of documentary for the future

Cliff in charge of security

Tony overall commander of insects

Russell is the entertainment and tour guide

Max is in charge of carrier rides to catch the jumbuck

Ashley and Robert Farmer in charge of tim tam supplies

Ps bring your own vegemite

Max

So for equipment,

Emma needs a cooking fire

Euan needs a padlock

Salesman needs a cash register

I'll need the usual camera gear

Cliff a shotgun

Tony a flyswat and can of Mortein

Russel needs himself

Max a few jumbuck traps

and the others probably need some padlocks too.

Whos' going to be chief mechanic?

Can Emma double up on security? (Nothing gets past Em)

Who's the bottle washer?

Who's in charge of the dunnies?

Default the dunny

Keith,I reckon Jiff and Jon should be on dunny duties as soon they arrive their first job would be to build an outback dunny to the guide lines set out by the beyond the black stump school of dunny building which is located 20 miles west of the tin shed you know where don't ya. What should the seating capacity of these dunnies be Keefy? a one, two or eight.

Karmen frying pans will be confiscated at the airport as only camp ovens are used here.

Should this possibly be a new thread Keith on this subject? As it is an important one.

Max
