Great job and thank you for including so many pics of me. Little correction for october. The one in the Background is Robert Farmer's truck. Henry, your input? And I guess only the middle Blitz is Maxis. The one in the front is just in storage at Max places. Is this correct, Max? cu Chris

Minor correction though, my HUP was used by the BBC British Broadcasting Company in New York City. You are correct the CBC used several HUPs, I believe four, to cover the war in Europe.

Well done, mate!
Good job, Cliff! May I suggest a slight revision for your caption on the back-page photo, though?
"MLU's SUNRAY, Geoff Winnington-Ball (aka 'Jif')... etc etc... Even if you choose not to use it, please capitalise the 'B' in '-ball'. Thanks mate. BTW, I'll echo David Ellery's comment above... where are you in this? If nothing else, get someone to photograph you holding an MLU sticker out front and splice it in there someplace with credit for all the work done on the calendar. There's a good lad, chop-chop! Oh yeah, one thing more... given the international spread of our membership, is it possible to get the actual calendar part to indicate the holidays and such from the various countries portrayed in the pictures? While you mull this over, I'll have another close look at all and forward comments as they might occur to me. In the meantime, I repeat on behalf of all of us, well done, laddie! Now it's time for another cuppa... Jif

Now the holidays...hmmm I may just leave christmas, new Years and easter in as holidays UNLESS all you folk will email me (chut2595ATbigpond.net.au) and tell me what your individual countries holidays are. Trouble with Aussie is that apart from mainstream holidays (Christmas, Easter, New Years and ANZAC day most of the other holidays are different. I suggest here that the main stream holidays are marked (New Year, Easter and Christmas) but we perhaps only mark our individual nations rememberence days for our fallen soldiers. For instance ANZAC day (April 25) is Australias and New Zealands day for remembering their soldiers and we will mark Canadas, British etc etc. I of course will need to be told which days they are first though. As to the other a picture of me in it would just spoil it so sorry no dice on that one, besides there is no room left and if there was I'd put another good looking truck pic in instead. Thanks for all the kind words

RE:- Calendar
Cliff.
Great work on the calendar. How much, where and when can I place an order, and what would the postage be please? In the UK, although Armisitice Day is 11th November, the main parades are normally held on the second Sunday in November, this year actually being the 11th. Over the past number of years there has been a tendancy to hold a two minute silence on the 11th November itself, where it does not fall on the Sunday. Also, in Northern Ireland, there is a tradition of holding small parades (and some not so small) to mark the 1st July and the Battle of the Somme, in which the Canadians played a large and vital part. The Newfoundland Regiment sent 801 men "over the top" that day - only 69 were fit to attend muster parade the next day. Paul. |

I hope to have paypal operating on my web site by this time so it should be easier for you overseas folk to pay. Remember all profits go to Geoff for running this MLU forum I will recover only printing and postage costs. Hanno, without being rude folk have had some time to send me photos and those that did not send them when I asked missed out. But next year maybe people will be a bit quicker to send them when I ask

Memorial day in the US varies.. here is the info and you would have to ink it in..Last Monday in May...every year so the date is not fixed.. Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May (observed this year on 2007-05-28). It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country.
