Hi Kevin

is there any update on the Centaur restoration? Did you ever find a turret and engine?

Regards
John

Ahh yes I did see that, did not put two and two together, good luck with the sale Kevin, seems like a very fair price, especially considering all the work that has been done to date.

Default Tracks

Pulled the tracks out of the molasses after 3 years of being submerged.....ekk😳, then just pressure wash off.

Best to POR them post rinse, that way they won't flash rust on you

There is a product here in Canada called "Hold Tight" You mix it in with your pressure washer water when you rinse the bare metal and it will provide a minimum of 72 hours protection from flash rusting, in practice it is usually twice that. I have used it when I "wet" blast with my sandblaster...it is pretty pricey here but well worth the price in my opinion.

Mind I am surprised the solution was still active after three years, usually its kaput after around six months depending on conditions.. (my findings anyway)

I also find it evaporates, so you have to keep adding both water and molasses to keep it going, probably what Kevin was doing

Rick, I hope to get it stripped, blasted and painted, sitting on new suspension, wheels and tracks my the end of March next year.

I would prefer to put in a Meteor engine for reliability and ease of access to spares, but if a Liberty came up at the right price?. Just got to put in some extra hours at work to pay for it all.

kevin.
I seem to recall that the Cobbaton Museum in North Devon had some Liberty engines laying about.....may be worth a call ???

George.
