New Carrier pages on Old CMP site
Just put several new pages up including this one on John Belfield's Melbourne Tank Museum collection, including the wrecks in the storage yard.
I've also started a page on the controversially named 2 pounder carriers

2pdr gun
Keith, not to be pedantic, but the 2pdr IS NOT a Field Gun, rather it is a 2pdr Anti-Tank Gun. 2pdr Field Guns have not been seen in Australian service since the 1880's
Did John have an opinion if these Carriers are "Carriers, 2pdr, Tank Attack" mounting a "2pdr Anti-Tank Gun"? I notice, too, that the carrier pictured has a nice growth of Lichen on it. Do any naturalists amongst us know the growth rate of Lichen? I believe it's quite slow, many years per centimetre or such. |

Speaking of lichen
Quote:
And here's a pic of a FGT 8 before the wet and dry. It's had a few years of lichen.

And after...
Serial 55935 is revealed, confirming it as a No 8 FGT.
Pity it's such a wreck.

Lichen
Hi Tony
You want lichen, have I got lichen for you. This was at Bellfields en-route to Corowa in 2002. This is cammo lichen, a species perculiar to Belfields property. Bob |

Aussie T16
Keith, great pics, thanks! I was surprised to see a T16 surviving in Australia:
I had no idea any of them were ever supplied to Australia. Does anybody have any info on deliveries? Thanks, Hanno T16 Universal Carrier |

I won't even ask how you ended up in Melbourne's eastern suburbs enroute from Adelaide to Corowa. Lost perhaps? |

Re. Salesman Bob
Hi Tony
The picture was at Horsham prior to Narre Warren (again checking out the instruments). Actually 7 of us hired a mini-bus and were on the road for a week visiting Horsham, Werribee (Liberator), Narre Warren North (Belfield), Nar Nar Goon (Bernie Dingles Museum), Melbourne Docks (some coal barge), Tim Viberts, Corowa, Echuca, the Catalina Museum. Good trip. Bob |
