Default Chevy 207 head

I’m just casting out far and wide on this. Looking for a 1936 Chevy 207 ( might also be called a 206)engine block head. GM part number of 837981. The one on my firehalls 1936 Chevy Fire Truck is cracked.

If anyone can help please let me know.

Default Head

Seems to be a scare item. My parts book says casting number 837981, part# 601988 only fits 1935/36. I also have an old interchange book that also says that the complete engine is 1935/36 only. Good luck with your search.

Default Is it cracked beyond repair?

Hi Jordan

Reason I asked if it is cracked beyond repair, in the past with some really rare stuff the choice was scrap the engine or have the head repaired.

I have welded 216 heads and blocks that were freeze cracked on the out side of the engine. We pressure tested the water jackets to 110 PSI and it held the pressure for 24 hours plus, with no leak down. Also welded repaired a Model A Ford head and block though the head of that on that one always wept at one spot just a very small amount, stop leak eventually stopped that.

Have had 190SL Mercedes heads patch by the overlapping tap and plug method. Mercedes was cracked in the compression chamber. The machinist grumbled and complained about cutting in a new valve seat.

Cheers Phil

So apparently the head is cracked on the number one cylinder. It doesn’t sound to be repairable.

Hopefully someone has one

Default Cylinder head

Hi Jordan,
A friend of mine knows someone that has a 1936 Chevrolet pickup. He is putting in a GMC 302. He is checking for me to see if the original engine is available. I will let you know.
