Default Morris PU pic

This interesting pic is courtesy of our own MLUer Keith Webb.

This is a PU Morris in Syria 1942, undergoing maintenance .
The mechanic looks satisfied with himself .... maybe all PU owners end up in overalls at some time . He hasn't been confused by the autovac yet .

WHAT DOES THE 'X' ON THE DOOR INDICATE ?

Mike

Hi Mike

As you are a Morris man thought you might like this shot of a PU taken in 1939, it belongs to a Royal signals unit and DRLS stands for despatch rider letter service
cheers
Les

Well, you might be quite surprised to hear it (still) is today! That very same vehicle was again restored from the ground up by Rory Ballard. See some more pics on Mike's site.

Indeed, and he was driving it around this Sunday just gone, what I must get though is a picture of the 11 set completely installed in the back (with thanks to Mike Kelly), its the one thing I don't seem to have.

In fact it was such a nice day, after a dreadful Saturday, that Ballard snr. was threatening to drive the "Olympic Torch" around for a run. . . . . . . . . . . .

Default Another one

The DRLS pic posted by Les : It's a very rare Mk 1 PU . Less than 100 built I believe . It has the Royal corps of signals thingy on the front .

Hub caps
civilian bumber bar .
Rounded bonnet, flush with rad surround .

None of these have survived , as far as we know .

This captured PU has two menacing Germans , looking mean !
Are those trafficators ? On the sides of the windscreen .

That's a old pic of R. Ballards PU . The poor thing must have strained itself towing cars around , the chassis is now where near strong enough on these, for that kind of work.

Yes, Where are those pics of the elusive 11 set ( Aust.) in the PU . Cm'on Richard, About time !

Mike .
