Thanks for that.

Whoever was writing the diary did an excellent job. I have seen many unit war diaries and a large proportion range from illiterate to boring administrative detail. Nearly all are extremely brief as the diarist (normally under the adjutant if he does not do it himself) usually has the job as a burdensome extra duty.

Your man has a nice balance of factual reporting and comments on troop morale and personal activities. He paints a nice picture of the whole unit and their daily lives.
