Yes Petr, something like that, nickel looking and shiney.
It was rough with quite a bit of spatter etc, so I thought my quality of welding would be a good replica. The boss has a few old packets of stainless rods, so I used them.
We don't need to get back into the debate about what was used at the time.

At some point in time I am looking for the detail of the front (observers)shutter. I have nothing but the holes. There is one in France, in Nigel Watsons 3rd book. It is the best detail I have ever seen (Nigel did us such a great deed, putting those books together for us)
