Default Japanese signals equipment

Remember when "Made in Japan" meant junk ?

From the N6FEG collection.Take a look at these field telephones .

"I got these almost 35 yrs ago at a radio swap. They are in excellent condition. But I find it so incredible the amount work that went into making these with these beautiful recessed latches and woodwork and attention to detail ..felt lining for the phone handset which is beautifully cast aluminum. I bet for every one of these handmade phones over 1000 American EE-8 field phones were manufactured."

Default Japanese radio set of some kind.

In the collection of N6FEG in California.

Appears to be in unissued condition. Plug in coils for changing bands.
Has one RF stage, a regen detector and two audio stages. The tubes appear to be early 1930s UY series 5 pin types.

The Japanese built a copy of the famous BC-611 Handy Talkie , but it was a receiver only. I have actually handled one , but could not take it home.

Update: The set pictured is a type53C receiver https://www.qsl.net/g4bxd/japanese.htm
