Hi Marco

I believe that the wheel is a track adjusting wheel for the Universal carrier. It was made in 1944 by the Ford Motor Company.

its hard to say but it looks like there is some green paint under all the rust and grime.

dont think so mike, few carriers were captured by the germans that late in the war and hardly any MK II carriers. looks like a late 44 production, then 6 to 18 months for transport and issue to the unit. you probably have a wheel that was lost in manuvers after the war, or dumped by a unit near the end of the war. in germany you find gear all over the place from old manuver areas that are now being devoloped for houses. i have found sherman wheels and all sorts of other gear from 60+ years of manuver training.

yes mike we all know about the early captured carriers. the thing is that all the captured carriers have TL dates of 38-40 and were british MK I makes. this is a a 44 canadian 1944 produced wheel with little chance of being captured. i dont think i have ever seen a MKII, windser carrier, or T-16 captured and used by the germans. there just was not enugh time , home work please
