Default Wanted - Universal Carrier

Could any of the U.K. members of this list assist me in finding a Universal Carrier for sale in the U.K.

I've got about 'thirty bob - two pounds' to spend, so don't mind a vehicle that requires work.

I can either be contacted via the forum or via e-mail.

Thanks in anticiaption
Barrie.

Default good luck

Good luck Barrie
It took me several years to find my MKII.
In the UK carriers are like hens teeth.
Best bet is to try europe.
An Aussie carrier has just been sold to an Englishman, So maybe it's on its way over. You never know he may be a dealer.

If you go to the W&P Show next month say hello!!

Yes, I will be going to Beltring next month. Will be there on the Sat and Sun bfore going on to France for a couple of days.

If you are at the show on these days any chance of having a chat a getting the highs and lows of owning a carrier ?

See Another Aussie carrier in the UK - it could very well be it is in the UK already. Anyway, there is an "Universal Bren Gun Carrier" (sic) imported from Australia for sale.

Barrie

Having owned two carriers I would recommend trying to find the most complete example available.

There are lots of carriers out there which are basically stripped hulls missing all the various stowage boxes and other fittings.

Getting these remanufactured to a professional standard is horendously expensive. Obviously also look for wear on tracks and hooked worn spockets. Replacement tracks are not currently available.

Hanno,

Thanks for the info about the carrier for sale in the MVT greensheet. Strangely I bought my Ford M151A1 [MUTT] from Annercy, the French side if the border from Geneva. I drove the MUTT back to the U.K. [South Wales], couldn't see me driving the carrier home !!

Neil,

Thanks for the invite to view your carrier and the advice, may take you up on the offer in the near future.

In the meantime, still looking for a carrier..........................

Thanks
Barrie.
