What a crock of S**t this 'new' website is!

Cannot find anything and slow as a wet week ...

Why, oh why, can't they understand 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it!'

Hanno,

In short, yes, very.

I knew this was the ONE place I could vent my frustration with the AWM site, mainly because of the comparison with the MLU site, which has worked, and continues to work, extremely well without any boffin-tinkering to 'improve' it. It works because it was well-designed with the user in mind to start with, and, thanks to your & other administrators diligence and attention to detail, continues to work. So to you all,

The AWM site is having teething problems, sure, which can be accepted with a major roll-out, but it has also gone backwards in the ability of users to search and find things. I don't believe it is as flexible or user friendly as before, but other regular users who frequent this site as well may have an opinion.

Good day,
The things that have annoyed me are, when you search a word it brings up
every word with those letters in it. You can filter the search down but it is missing the filter that searched object, to let you pinpoint the exact thing you wanted, for example, I searched machinery and would have liked to filter down to truck. You can't, so you have to troll through thousands of photos instead of hundreds. I searched RAEME, and it brought up RAEME and remembrance, not many photos of RAEME but lots of remembrance.

When you look at a thumbnail and then return to the page, it takes you back to the top of the page not back to where you got the thumbnail from. Lots of scrolling when you look at pictures from the bottom of the page, and have not checked to see where the picture was in the page.

I haven't been able to print any photos, it will let me print the description but no photos. The photos are for my personal use only.

War diaries seem ok and are printable.

They might sort it out but I guess some IT guru isn't going to admit he/she got it wrong. It probably doesn't need much just a tweak.

MLU is perfect, AWM not so perfect
Ken

Hi Hanno

Yes, MLUs software though old works consistently, controls and functions don't move around which makes reading more efficient.

The only problem is the search engine but there are work around to that using outside search engines.

That point brings me back to problems on searching AWM, can you backdoor search using the advance search option of an outside search engine?

One of the problems I'm seeing particularly with government web sites that they are being dumbed down to work on "smartphones " .

Cheers Phil
