Default Regarding the steering cam plate...

Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has done a rockwell test on the steering cam plate.

I haven't had one out yet but am thinking it may be... lets say a current day 4140, flame hardened around the edge and quenched... Does this sound right to anyone?

Rob

Default Yes Indeedy

Rob,

I suspect that your plan will work.

My old plate is buried in the snow - but it lasted a good deal better than some of the other parts - so it must have been at least hard on the wear curve surfaces.

The mating rollers are rather large, and hard, so flame hardening that edge would be just about right.

Good luck.

Default Sample?

Stewart,

When the snow clears around here do you think I could come down there and have a look at that plate?

And drool on that Mk2.

Default Always Up For Visitors

Rob,

When the snow clears you are more than welcome to drop by and poke around.

I will even try to drag that bit out - there was some vandalism last fall - and some wanker put a crappy old motorcycle in the shed - and now I can't get to my stuff.

What sort of a person does that to a nice guy like me?..... there were stange tiny Jiffero tracks, but the police are stumped.
