I've seen this wagon up close and it does need alot of work, I didn't hear it running but going by the vehicle I bought from him it should be pretty good.

Too bad it's not near Ottawa...
...... the Ottawa Rotters who rescue the poor thing....
One question..... from the bottom left side picture of the front axle....... maybe I have been hanging aorund Rob's Hup too long BUT that does look like a HUP front axle.... solid cast cover and funny looking axles tubes into the cast centre....??? Am I wrong or am I seeing HUP things..... Thanks for the posting Hanno....... anything else available in Canada you might have seen.... BooB |

Can any tell from the photographs if the scrap CMP is a Chevy or a Ford?
I assume looking at the body it is a 15 cwt. |
Chev..
Quote:
From the look of the rear axle I would say Chev. but the axles were interchangeable so can't be positive, but Chev by the axles.. :remember :drunk: :support |
That yellow one on MilWeb is an 8 cwt with 6 bolt wheels and no cab step. That should answer some questions about whether any cab 12s with 1B1 bodies made it to England.

What do people think of this vehicle? I'm definitely no expert full stop, let alone for the C8A!
Would be interested on peoples thoughts. |
To start how good does it run?
Quote:
The price at around 5000 GBP or around 10,000 US dollars seems a little dear but then again back to my first question, How good does it run? If it is a real good runner ready to start driving and enjoying while you restore the body to original configuration then may be not so bad. On my HUP it took a years work to get it on the road and driving to enjoy with body work and other restoration continuing for the next 30 years. But I've been driving it and enjoying it all that time. Neither of my other CMPs were ready to drive an each took 3-4 years worth of restoration and probably more the $10,000 worth of parts before they were driving around on the road again. It also depends a lot on what parts such as seats original window frames are still with the truck. There have been some other more complete HUPs on the market in the US and Canada which didn't sell for prices like that, not sure about European prices. But back to the condition if the drive train is in really good then price would be fair, if the drive train is freshly restored then it is looking like a better buy. The body from the one picture looks extensively modified with windows and at-least one door removed, can not tell if the roof hatch and observer hatch have been removed. These are things that can get the running restoration treatment of collecting the parts or fabricating them while you continue to enjoy driving the truck around to meets. On my HUP I tried to schedule major body work between big club events. If you have not already take a look at my web site http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/ Cheers |
Many thanks Phil, This wagon was up for £4000 last year on ebay, so was abit shocked with the £1000 increase!
Going by the C8 I got from this chap the engine on it was good and runs very well, needs some attention but the concern I had was that I haven't finished the C8 yet so was concerned about taking something on that required that amount of work! |

Colin, I merged Brad´s message into this thread, probably he had not read this one before he posted. Always good to know MLU Forum members are keeping an eye open for CMPs on the market and share information about them here. H. |
