Not strictly on the right track, but a mate of mine who has a 50s Triumph, ordered a part from a dealer, and the original box for it was stamped with the mark of a depot in Ontario. So they even took stock of British bikes after the war, too. Not only nicking our bikes, but selling them back to us after they've dismantled 'em :eek: ! Thats one of our tricks. :D

Well Done Keith, How on earth did you get it done so quickly ? It looks pretty well bang on to me.

What dimensions did you use for the tank "C" numbering ?

Thanks for your comments, it certainly caused some interesting conversations and comments at Beaulieu. The paint was still drying in a couple areas on last Friday evening !
I spent every possible moment I could over the last couple of months working on her, generally a least 2 hours per night. Although complete, it still needed a new clutch, wiring loom, new brakes ( as the old ones were soaked in grease) dynamo had to be rebuilt, ( which is a right pain to get at, as you have to remove all of the primary chain drives and covers) new tyre on the front, transfers ordered, repainted. The stencils I used are 1" in size. They are a set of brass ones I picked up years ago, but they are not the usual block type numbers and letters, instead they are rather bubbly in appearence (I'm sure there is a proper name for them). I've seen quite a number of early WW2 vehicles with this style of stenciling applied, which is more in keeping with the earlier markings.
I reckon the rear rack will take longer to make than rebuilding the bike !

Latest pictures of the matchless taken next to some dragons teeth, just down the road from me. These formed part of the early defences along the river Thames, just in case we were invaded. She is now complete with the rear rack and pannier racks.
