Ryan,
Somewhere here on MLU, there is an excel spreadsheet entitled something like 'modern part numbers for CMPs'. I'll see if I can find it & let you know. |
|
your a beautiful man tony.
I'll upload some pics when I can but I've recently rebuilt the brake cylinders on the F15 with new parts from MACs. For anyone that may need them the part nos were: front 1 3/8in kit 91T 2221 rear 1 1/2in kit 91T 2128 I also ended up buying a master cylinder rebuild kit from MACs too instead of salvaging bits off an old wreck. The part number was 91T 2004 A |

Here's some pics from today.
A couple of NOS brake shoes, one front, one rear. As I said earlier the rear one needed a hole drilled for the handbrake gear and some grinding to its mid section. All fitted nicely then. It's didn't have Ford stamped on it so it may have been a chev shoe? The front one was a NOS Ford shoe. |

Did a bit more today. Rebuilt and fitted the brake master cylinder.
Also pulled a gearbox off a spare sidevalve so I could get to the lower pressure plate shroud. This I needed for the sidevalve that is going into F15. Was very surprised to find the gearbox and shroud bolts come out very cleanly and easily after their initial break. This was from a truck that had no cab and had been sitting under cypress pines for many years. Was also doing some cleaning of a wheel off the F15 and came across this ID. Didn't know they had them. |

I've still only done one wheel on mine and it had this stamping..........
|
Cool rob. I wonder if the original stamps still exist.
|
Ryan your picture made me curious and I had a quick look at my Blitz, without cleaning I think I have two General Motors and three Kelsey rims. The 600 over 16 looks like it is stamped on at least one of the Kelsey rims.
|
GM then Kelsey
I beleive initially the rims were made by GM but at one point were farmed out to Kelsey.
This topic was dealt with in the earlier years of MLU with postings of pictures of the large punch press.....something like 1200 tons...... blank pre cut discs were punch in one go...... the monstrous flywheel of the press was half under the floor. I tried doing a few searches but must not have used the proper key words. Wonder who else remembers these postings...? Bob C. |
Bob, I think I found it.
The thread is called cmp wheel details by tony smith. I can't link to it now as I am on my phone. |

wheel bearings
Went to a local auto parts supplier today, asked about a set of wheel bearings for the F15. Mind you, this was for one side only. My quote, " about $500".
Wow! I was polite and left. |
Give this bloke a go
Was very reasonable on last set of bearings I got for C8 AA bearings & Oilseal service Ph. 0398741660 Fax 0398741342 email oldcarbearings@bigpond.com.au |
Mine Gott!!
Mob in Wagga Ryan called CBC (Consolidated bearing Company)... They have outlets all over the place...
Been very helpful in the past and far more reasonable than your bloke with price. Just take the old ones in so they can measure up...even giving them the old part numbers can help.. Should be able to get them somewhere far more reasonably priced than $500. |

Hi Andrew I'll follow up with them if the CBC dealer in geelong isn't reasonable. Thanks Tony. Can you PM me with how much they cost you up there through them please?
Home by myself at the moment so I'm out in the shed cleaning wheels. My F15 truck has 3 Kelsey wheels from 1942. And 2 General Motors wheels from 1941. The GM wheels feature a pattern on the rear. And totally off topic but I'm stopped for lunch. Eating 2 minutes noodles at the moment, if you haven't tried them, "Maggie Fusian" noodles are the best on the market. :thup2: |

I have not bought bearings for the F15 Ryan, I did however by the very large passenger side outer wheel bearing and cone off CBC for the F60L. Cost was $60. Stands to reason if I had bought both bearings they would have been somewhere around $120. Much less than $500. Importantly it was the correct bearing first time round. I would happily go back there and be happy to chase some prices down for you if you'd like. |

Bearings where to find and what do they cost - Always a good ?
Hi All
Over the years they topic of where to find bearings and seals have come up with quite regularly on MLU. But regularity (as we all know) is good. Our MLU community is so far flung that what is one man's easy source is another's dream. That we keep asking the questions and answering these questions is good because it keeps bring out new potential sources and it also gives us a an idea of what a fair price should be. My contribution to this information exchange is shown on http://canadianmilitarypattern.com/H...0a%20wheel.htm which as you scowl down gives a list of all the bearings and seals for the front hub my C60S and the costs. The one thing that is missing which I will fix is the date I bought them. My favorite bearing and seal source is Motion Industries www.motionindustries.com that though they claim to be world wide I understand this is not always true. Best of luck to anybody working on a CMP keep up the good work. Cheers Phil |
Cheers Phil.
When I first said to myself " ok, wheel bearings" I thought I may be up for about $120, I had no idea they were that dear. |
Geez Phil that was a close shave with Beauty, I shudder to think of the front wheel falling off at 50 MPH. It got me wondering about those lock washers, are they available new?
|
Front Axle Keeper Washers
Hi Tony
After that near lose of a wheel because of the lock or key washer failure we had a lengthy thread on MLU on the topic Help Need - Front Axle Keeper Washers which listed who had them at that time. Failure of this keeper is most problematic on the left side of the truck as the normal rotation of the wheel is trying to loosen the left side. Which means I've added removing the nut cover during the spring greasing, brake adjustment scheduled maintenance. Cheers Phil |

Well my C60 departed for a new home in central vic recently.
Attachment 63152 And I had a visit by a well known pup and his mate today. Attachment 63153 It was good to catch up Tony and I'll have to get off my arse and book some accomodation for corowa before it's too late. |
Also thought I would remind you to send in your entry for Corowa. This goes to others as well if you haven't entered. Only another 28 days to do so.
|
Jan, you know I wait every year for your kick in the arse to get me moving. Tomorrow's hot so I'll have no excuse.
|
you should be down at Queenscliff for the Hot Rod show. Dad is taking the Ford blitz Ambulance along. Actually he is going in to see Fletch from 'Classic Restos'

When I spoke to Fletch during the week he was going to try and get some filming done tonight of the Rod Run and a few other sections of his show so he doesn't need to spend too much time there tomorrow. He was hoping that there might be a person who could hold the umbrella and provide him with drinks. I did suggest to mum and dad that one of them could help however if it is that hot they will stay home and keep cool.
