Mk1 Carrier gauges.
Hi, I want to connect up my gauges so they work, The temperature gauge is a NOS carrier one and I have a NOS braided cable for it, Can anyone recommend a tapping point location for connection on an 8BA engine, is it designed to fit inside a thermocouple type pocket?. Also my current system is 12V positive earth.
The oil and ammeter gauges are also NOS and I want to run them on 12v positive earth, to get them to read correctly I am guessing I may need a dropping resistor in the circuit ?. Can anyone advise. Also I want to purchase a refurbished 2 brush flathead generator, can anyone point me in the right direction?. thanks kevin. |
Kevin I can't give you the technical information. But my own MK2 is on 12 volts. An old electronics friend of mine wired up some resistors to hide behind the dash for the gauges. Although I've never got the fuel gauge to work so far. Ron

The genny is a Lucas C45PV. You will need the correct Lucas/Ford flathead drive end bracket. You can convert a 6 volt unit to 12 volt by using the 12volt field coils. The 6volt armature is good for both (but the 12 volt armature cant do 6 volt)

Hi, Has anyone details of an 'off the shelf' resistor device for wiring in series with 6v carrier gauges to make them work correct on 12v negative earth.

this are the ones we put in ,but we made 12 volt negative ground. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Runtz-...cers,2374.html |
