Justin Pollard 16-09-12 10:53

Hello All,

it sold for somewhere between $1000-1600, I put an email bid of 950 on it mostly so the scrappies wouldnt get it, the diff would have been nice though! the other parts also sold, i was told it all went to someone around Lighting ridge.

Regards
Justin.

Carrier #1824

Hi Nathan and welcome. Firstly data on your Carrier. It was built under Contract No. MON62 by Ford NSW (Homebush) in 1941/42. The original engine number was 1G6478F with the Army Registration Number (ARN) being C25469.

Of particular interest is that one of our forum members, Justin Pollard, possess a photograph of his grandfather posing with this Carrier during WW2.

You two need to network.

Bob

Nathan Clark 17-10-12 04:52

Are you serious lol? I would love to see that photo. Bob just out of interest, i did read some where that a person had an engine in a carrier thats engine number matched mine so anyone guess how it found its way there lol. Just cant remember where i read it.

Bob, possible a typo.
The AWM record indicates that this is:
ARN 25649
Eng # 1G6478F
Ford Carrier LP2A
Hull # 1824

see attached pic

I have a BGC engine just a few numbers from this.

Hi Darrin - sorry, typo on my part, ARN is C25649.

Nathan, as I said, you need to network with Justin. I am sure he will catch up with this thread.

Hungerford Carrier

Hi Nathan, and welcome to the forum, Glad it went to a good home,.As a matter of interest I once owned Ford 1932. and I have Ford carrier,2838, you are in the right place now for any advice, and parts that you may need, regards Ron

Quick question, does anyone possess any plans, rough drawings, dimensions ect of the front armoured plates on a carrier- the ones that form the shield for the gun and driver and have the vision shutters attached to. As you can see from the photos up the top of this thread, mine have been removed away at so point in its life. Its seems to be easy enough to cut the plates to the right shape and size but i am more interested in knowing exactly where the vision shutter holes and mounts are to be cut and install. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if the topic has been covered in another thread.

Nathan

Very Happy Salesman Bob

Hi all - it is a result like this that makes my involvement with MLU such a pleasure. Here we have two MLUers, a Carrier and a unique provenance. Justin, you will need to make a pilgrimage to Lightening Ridge.

Bob
