felt seating pads: fuel tanks

The Wading manual (1943) contains direction with respect to the oiling of the felt seating pads used with the fuel tanks.

Excellent find Michael! I was just thinking of doing that before installing tanks to prevent rust, now it has proof from the HQ! :)
Will obey the instruction! :salute:

You can oil the track from your supply of used motor oil too . . .

Wouldn't there be something better? More permanent? Pitch or tar sounds good to me but would become a problem when removing the tank (the pads would be stuck to the tank, making a problem of extraction and insertion)
Any suggestions?
