Ferret Monument Moose Jaw
2 Attachment(s)
Hello all,
Can anyone shed any light as to when this Ferret became a monument and anything known specifically as to where it came from and any documented or witnessed history or provenance. Obviously there is more to this than meets the eye, and I want to understand more about it but without asking leading questions that will result in flawed information. The photos are kindly provided by Darcy Pennock by permission |
It is an ex-BATUS ferret which was acquired in the mid 90s and painted to loosely represent a Cdn ferret. I was heavily involved with the vehicle display in front of the armouries, but not with that particular vehicle.

Faux Monument
Just another faux monument with fake markings.
|
No, it's a real ferret Ed.

Monument
True, but a British one painted to represent a Canadian vehicle which makes it fake.

Thanks for all your input.
I think it is difficult when we have representations of something that are not quite right in some way. People are free to call them whatever they want but in the end you can see that the word or words used all point to the same direction of "Not genuine" and that is the problem. It wont be too many years before such subtle details will be lost and fact and fiction will blur into lore. It is a touchy subject and I implore everyone to be careful. On a personal note having been well and truly taken on a non genuine vehicle through a lack of research and knowledge and a whiff of the truth on the part of the seller I am very very touchy on the subject and will do all I can to ensure a replica is marked and displayed as such and not passed off as the genuine item. Anyway, regarding this formerly British Army Ferret, does anyone have pictures of what it looked like before being made to look like a Canadian one? The military registration would be useful and those images may just show that. There is another photo on the web of the same monument at some time that show damaged bins and poor paint. This looks like it has had a freshen up recently. Anyway, to anyone who owns a Canadian Ferret it shows how keen folks are to display one. Once again thanks all. |
So would this be a Canadian one that is in Wainwright ??

Outwardly yes it bears all the hallmarks of being a Canadian one.
The proof is by personal inspection internally and externally as there is a lot to look for. |

I don't know ED
That looks British made to me |
Tough to tell with Ed's name spread across the pic, but i think I can see the mods for the lights' - I think that one is Canadian.
