Dieppe Pourville museum...vehicles, where are they now?
2 Attachment(s)
Back in the late 80's/90's there used to be a museum in a bunker near Dieppe-Pourville, France. Most remember the museum because of the vehicles that littered the grounds around the bunker; left in the elements which meant a hard life, especially for the Soft skins. It seems the museum closed in the late 90's.
Here is the bunker as it sits now: https://bunkersite.com/locations/fra...479-dieppe.php I am curious what happened to the vehicles....I know from Maurice that a Morris CS8 ended up in Belgium, and from Wheels&Tracks magazine and online we know the Normandy-veteran PzKfw IV ended up in the Becker collection that loaned it to the, now also closed, Normandy Tank museum. Attached are a few picture my dad took when we visited the museum....(I might just be one of the children in the picture;) ). Please feel free to add your pictures of the museum as well.....and I would love to know if other vehicles have lived on, either restored or as parts sources. |

I've never been to that museum, though remember reading about it in Wheels & Tracks magazine issue #5 and #38 if I am correct where the CGT Cab 13 on display drew my eye.

Attached are some scans from Wheels and Tracks magazine no.5.
A couple of days ago Hanno and I were talking about a rare Karrier 6x4 restoration project.....a Lorry that came from the Pourville museum and even in the Wheels and Tracks issue it is described as "possibly the sole survivor of the breed". |

Nice find, those postcards  And thanks for looking up the W&T article.
Shame that museum closed down, although it was better for the outside exhibits. I wonder where the CMP vehicles went? I see a 3-tonner, a LAAT and a FAT, most likely they all came from French Navy reserve stock meaning they were all in excellent condition before they were put out to pasture. The Karrier CK6 still exists in the same dilapidated condition. It needs a full restoration but the good news is that it is under cover in a private collection. If you’ve always lusted after a British 6x4 truck, you’re in luck as it is for sale. Contact me for more details. Attachment 135399 |
