Ford CMP Horn.....
Hello all: Hope everyone is keeping well. It's been a while. In reference to the horns used on the Ford CMP's as opposed to the Chevrolet CMP's.....can any of the Ford owners post a photo of the "proper" Ford horn with both front and side views. Along with this....was the rear "bulbous" part of the horn "round' or "bullet" shaped, or both. And how many wires came out the back. I came across a unit of mine (which I had totally forgotten about) while cleaning out my shop. I would have posted photos, but forgot my camera.
Your help is dearly appreciated. Robert  |

Ford CMP Horn

Hi Robert,
As they say in the cooking shows- here's one I prepared earlier. The original bracket to the horn has 4 thin spring steel leaves riveted to the arm as shown. Two wires to it. One goes to the battery side of the starter solenoid and therefore is always "hot" and can operate without the ignition on. The other goes to the horn button and when pushed, closes the circuit to earth energizing the horn. Those are not original wires but just for testing purposes. Original wires are in harness that go behind front crossmember with eye terminals that attach directly to horn. Cheers, |
