Beute Morris-Commercial trucks
 

Another captured Morris-Commercial CS8 15-cwt, this time pretty much in as-built configuration, though.

Is that an AA machine-gun trainer in the back of the GS cargo body?

Again a picture being auctioned on eBay (thanks to Kuno for pointing it out to me): Erbeutete Britische Ford LKW Tarnplanen Dünkirchen (Item number: 6155147780). I can make out Ford, Beford and Morris-Commercial trucks.

The Bedford appears to my poor eyes to be one of the batch L 199580 to 200304, to Contract V 3603, 'Lorry 3 ton 4 x 2'.

And the open bonnet in the foreground looks like a Humber Snipe.

I would not wonder about an arabic number-plate on a british truck in CRETA. Since the british forces have been brought there from EGYPT (via GREECE)...

Odd Beute Morris
 

Can anyone shed any light on this vehicle?
I have not seen such a Morris with a crane before and do not know if it is of German or British origin.

As far as I can tell, this is not a configuration of British origin - must have been German.

This may be one of those never solved mysterys.
I have perhaps a dozen photos of German trucks with a specific type of crane to remove aircraft engines but none look like this one.
The photo came from eBay.de and I think it was on the Russian front so it could have been cobbled up from almost anything available. I agree, though, it is a nice and rare shot.

I would say it would probly be a captured/salvaged truck from the BEF and modified to serve its new owners.

One more for good measure, Bedford MW Z378927 freshly captured; the Germans only hastily applied "WH" for Wehrmacht Heer (Defense Forces, Army).

I think your last posting is a MCC.
Look at the toolbox in front of the rear wheel. That is a MCC feature. The Bedford's did show their petroltank.

Yes Rolf ,

Looks like a MCC CS8 to me .

The CS8 rear axle hubs are visible . As seen in the earlier MW pic Hanno posted - the MW type rear hubs are more skinny and also protrude more .

Here is a photo of a C8 in destroyed in Normandy while in German Army service. It looks to be a C8 GS with a non standard rear body?

The registration on the front is WH 582756

Going by the fact this is in Normandy, I do not think that was a GS version of a C8, the C8GS did not come into service until late 1944. The points to look at here are the flat section front wings and the outer top of windscreen frames slightly angled in. It was a C8 Field Artillery tractor. possibly captured in Dunkirk or thereabouts.

Showing Morris-Commercial CS8 Z389950 picked up from the battlefield and put to use as a harbour command's hack at Kastron, Isle of Lemnos, Greece (1941).

It looks like, after Dunkirk the Germans had more Morris Commercials in service than the Britisch (is that why they lost the war). :D

I read somewhere that the jerries had taken over a plant in Antwerp, this is where where they rebuilt the many captured Morris' .

You may have been recalling rhe late Bart Vanderveen in WHEELS & TRACKS mentioning about Ford and General Motors Continental in the docks at Antwerp/Antwerpen/Anvers. I have the figures somewhere, but he mentions extensive rebuilding facilities established for Austin, Morris and Bedford engines, etc. from memory.

I guess I'm in the wrong thread here, but it accurs to me that I have not seen any 6 wheel morris comicals, on the forum. Are they a bit rare?
