The first time I saw a PRC25 was at the Form Up Point when I met the guys who were going into an OP with me! The installation of new radios continued through 79 and 80. Within one training year we'd learned how crappy the C42s were and how much their performance was limiting our "tactical" abilities. We had 5/4 CPs with the aluminum shelving, which were model year 1976 or 77. I don't remember if we had C42s in them, but I do remember RT524s.
Terry: Our Chev 5/4 (76-29264) definitely had C42s on initial issue; within a year, RT 524s were issued. (This was a Reserve unit).

Just can't remember whether the term RAK or IKEE was used....and my Line Serial at the time was Bn Sig O!
