Hello, my name is Neil, and I live in Florida, USA. I was born in the UK, grew up in South Africa, lived in Guyana for five years and am now a US citizen. My father was in the RAF flying Lancasters, post WW2 and my grandfather was a sergeant in the RAC, 27th Lancers for the duration of WW2.

I guess it's my British heritage that makes me collect 1950's Triumph motorcycles, British service weapons (Snider onwards), and more recently, I acquired my first armored vehicle, a Daimler Ferret Mark 1 that was in Canadian service with the 8th Canadian Hussars. This vehicle has been in dry storage since being sold in 1981 and I'm in the process of doing a complete strip down and rebuild. I'm intending to return it to as close to the 1970's era as possible. Thanks for letting me join the site.

Would you know the CFR (registration numebr) of the ferret? We have one member here who is trying to keep a register of the location of all the ex-Cdn ferrets. |

Hello Neil, welcome to the forum.

Your firearm collection sounds interesting. Although I don't have them now, over the years I had great enjoyment from a collection of Martini Henrys and Enfields and a couple of SMLEs. I still feel the mystique whenever I hear or see mention of these fabled rifles particularly the M-H and its 577/450 shim brass cartridge. Terrific fun. David
