I am trying to locate a full set of rims (5) in very good condition for potential shipment to Brasil.
I will look after shipment within Canada and estimate cost / make arrangements for international shipping. Nothing will get loaded/transferred until everyone is paid in full. I need to verify the availability and asking price to ascertain the financial viability of such a project. You may wish to PM me for further discussion or to exchange private email address. I will be in Acton March 7th for suggestions, comments and general discussion. Thanks for you help guys. PS..... whatever the outcome final results will be posted here on MLU.

Got five rims lined up. Buyer suggested getting a quote on shipping cost with USPS or UPS or DHL.
All of the above shippers ship only airmail so one 68 pound 16 in. rims would cost $1200.00 ...... no it's not a typo. We even considered 10 parcels with half a rim each. We are exploring shipping surface on a pallett but that requires special packaging according to international rules and regs...total weight over 400 pounds...and by the way.... air mail would handle it for $7600.00 Still working on the surface shipping........ That seems way too high. Two 50 pound packages from Australia to Canada were $400 Canadian by sea mail. What about Canada Post?
Buy yourself a return ticket and take it as carry on luggage-----grunt-----grunt!!!

Bob have you checked on less than container load shipping? You might be able to find a freight forwarder up there in Canada that will do it that way. I know I see a lot of stuff shipped into and out of the US that way and it usually pretty damn cheap. And I have never seen it packed any better than strapping or shrink warp to hold it to the pallet. They will also do floor loads of less than container load cargo.
If not here are some freight forwarders located in NY. Some have offices right over the border: http://www.forwarders.com/StateDirectory/NY.html |

Perhaps try USHIP. They put your shipment out for bids by carriers. It does not cost anything to get a quote. See; http://www.uship.com/find

The owner looking for the 4 wheels has been fortunate enough to find another CMP in his immediate area which will be a great parts donor. Sadly the wheels are the typical 16 in. wheels welded inside 20 in. civvy rims. Nonetheless he is encouraged by his latest cmp parts truck discovery to search with greater enthusiasm in Brazil.
I have alwasy been a firm beleiver that you cannot restore "a" truck without having a few parts trucks in the backyard.... or a friend's larger backyard..... saves a lot of questions from the wife. Cheers

Hi Bob
For those prices how about as luggage? Five really big suitcases quick check of round trip flights the excess baggage charge might turn out to be a lot cheaper. Cheers Phil
