You never know what you'll find. Parts of Dover Castle have become overgrown with trees & greenery since the army left. Rumour had it that a small trailer might be hidden within one area. After a couple days of searching a Limber #27 appeared in view. Plan is now to recover it and hopefully restore it to go with the 25 pounder.

Oooooh, you lucky, lucky sod!
I'll never discount another 'ww2 equipment buried in tunnel' again. Guess they're not always myth!

Yes, everything on the hill now belongs to EH. The military now only have the PWRR museum and occasional use of Constable's Tower & St. Mary's Church.
Once the limber is out the conservationists will have a close look at identification and restoration. Got a closer look at the data plate today. It is a Mk 1/L dated 1942. Box still retains some of it's desert sand paint colour. Last edited by Bruce MacMillan; 27-06-16 at 17:53. Reason: more info |

Finally got all parties together yesterday and exposed the limber. For having sat outside all these years it wasn't in bad shape. Next task is to move it to dry storage and assess the restoration.

A rare find indeed these days ,I have some spare parts for the No 27 Limber if you find yourself with anything missing or damaged.
