And finally a mystery. This GM plate off an engine cover has a serial number but no build date. Why would that be?

That's a contract number.
Could be a Melbourne build. For some reason all of the Melbourne Chevs had the build date on the dashboard plate and not necessarily on the engine cover plate and Sydney was vice versa. Was there a dash plate present?

I think Bob is temporarily satiated by his last border raid.

At least people like Euan have been trying to redress the imbalance with his recent import from S.A. - the CGT No8 which was a great prize and of course my F15 from Rust Hill.
