OK lets see who can name this quickly made little tool? If you have a Chevy you need one.
Hint the CMP special tool number is K-353

Clearly it's an underwater exemplicator which is part of the towing system used when it's hooked onto the back of a Ford CMP.

Is it some sort of protector for when your wife wants to put your nuts in a vice after you've told her you bought another Chev?

Hi Phil - as everybody should know it is a home-made Gearshift Lever Remover. However it bears no resemblance to the images in MB-C1 or 2. What is my prize apart from more derision from the un-educated.

You are correct it is a quick and dirty but very effective tool for removing the shift lever. For years I have been looking for one of these tools. Some times you can push and turn with your fingers or heaven forbid use a pair of pliers. Usually I just removing the whole top of the transmission. Then while working on the engine swap on my C60S I had the transmission up on the bench and happened to notice that the cross section of slot was one inch and having a whole bunch of scrap 1x1 box tubing decided to make one. Little cutting with the plasma cutter, a little welding and a couple of touches with the bench grinder. The result is a very handy little tool.
