Thumbs up Wiles cooker manual wanted

I know this has been asked before by Jeff from QLD, but does anyone have a wiles cooker Jr manual , logbook or info that may help with the operation of my new acquisition. With the cold weather in Melbourne today I think a hot soup kitchen is on the cards.

Default Understanding wife

Maybe the understanding wife in your signature understands how to use the cooker and can instruct you accordingly. Women tend to know more about these sorts of things than their men. Nice acquisition by the way!

Default wiles cooker manual

Euan,

Is it a goer? I have a copy of the Wiles Cooker Manual that the late VMVC member Ray Davies put together some years ago. You may remember him, he had a full size Wiles cooker WW2 model and used to come to some of the GMRG re-enactment events and cook for us and the public. He did wonderful roasts and devonshire teas. Sadly he died and I don't know what ever happened to his cooker. I think it was the only complete one around, certainly the only one ever operating that I have ever seen. I remember finding a gutted one down in the Otways years ago that had been used as a field hut. It had been burnt out from a bushfire. The tyres had burnt off and it had been left there for some time. I told Ray and he got a set of wheels and recovered it. Don't know what happened to that either. His manual does have some references to the Junior
Cooker but I will have to check if it contains a manual.

I normaly find the simple rule of cooking is.....When it's brown, it's done. When it's black, it's buggered! Ron
