I would place a friendly wager that there are, and never will any in true private ownership.

Default Lots of Cougars Across the River

Cougars aplenty here... http://mitchmckenna.com/items/view/6...cougar-chez106

As for the AFV Cougars, I think most went to the African Union.

I'm sure that I recall that it was 100 turretless AVGP Grizzlies that went "on loan" to....Namibia?

We'll never see them again.

Robin, I'll bump your friendly bet that those Grizzles are still sitting on a dock, rusting away.

The AVGPs in Africa were "loaned" to the African Union as APCs and wreckers for their peacekeeping mission in Darfur, Sudan. The AU is sort of a third-string continental version of the UN. A few have been blown up, shot up or stolen. The rest were supposed to be maintained by the Africans, with some sort of contract with a Canadian company for the more complicated stuff. But yeah, we aren't likely to see them again. I saw a page in a UN document about international arms transfers where we sold a bunch of turret-less Grizzlys to Ureguay.

It wouldn't hurt to send an official request to DND. They have stocks in warehouses waiting to be sold. In the mid-00's I marked targets with a Cpl Supply Tech whose job was to manage the leftover Air Force CF-5 jets. A certain percentage of these were be kept in running condition as demonstrators. If DND is predictable, maybe the movie company can get temporary use of this category of AVGPs.

Shilo museum has one in running condition. They have rented vehicles (with operator) in the past, although the transportation and housing costs will hurt the bottom line.

Billy P Smith (770.509.0708) listed as the contact at

consultbps@smithtandl.com

Smith Consulting Group LLC.
3292 Thompson Bridge Rd, Suite 360
Gainesville, GA 30506

http://www.smithconsultinggroup.net/...anadianmsa.php

After looking over the website and reading about the program, DND has contracted these guys to flog a lot of Cold War inventory. So, they "own" it until sold.
