Carriers Without Folding Flap. Which ones?

Hi Guys, I just wondered which carriers never had a folding flap on the left side.
Were any MkI* Universals built like this? Or is this just Mortar Carrier territory?

Not aware of any MK-I* model (C01UC, C21UCM and C21UCG) produced without the folding gunner left front upper protection plate. I understood the left front plate having a hinged forward folding top section was to enhance driver vision when the added protection was not required.

The installation of bases for attaching upper hull deep fording extension plates caused the folding section to become redundant as it became fixed in the raised position.

Next question; Did the Brits built MkI U.Cs without the folding flap, other than Mortar carriers?

Yes, a wee pause in the conversation.

The MK-II* (C31UCW) gunner left protection plate is a single plate without folding flap. The profile is similar to the MK-I* when the folding flap is in the raised position.
