Wd Metallic Containers

Hi,

Is there anyone who can tell me what there was normally
inside this kind of metallic containers ?
Both are dated WD 1940 and has a different manufacturer.
One is made by UTTLEY INGHAM & Co LTD and the other by
BULPITT & SONS LTD - BIRMINGHAM.
