I, too, am for doing it at the sprocket. I normally work alone, and if I am feeling lazy, don't remove the track tension ether. A bar at the sprockets will work the track over until I can get the M113 track jack to engage. The impact gun does the rest. Just did one a couple days ago without issue.

To each his own though, taking into consideration the limitations of the individuals tooling and experience.
