I think Chris is headed in the right direction. The Molded Insulation Company was an electronics firm in Philadelphia. They were involved with military equipment during the war and ended up with an extensive line of Bakelite/plastic mantle radios post war.

NAF - This is the Naval Aircraft Factory, also based in Philadelphia.

So this item would indeed seem to be intended for naval aircraft use.
